 Guided day tour from Cambridge
The North Norfolk Coast (including seal-watching)
North Norfolk has a quiet unspoilt, unpopulated coastline. It is known for its wide sandy beaches and sand dunes, river estuaries teeming with birdlife, and home to the UK's largest colonies of Grey and Common Seals. But despite this fame, the Norfolk coast is off-the-beaten-track and receives very few visitors. It is fabulous walking country so bring sturdy footwear and a warm waterproof jacket.

Plan for the day
  • We depart from Cambridge at 0900 to arrive at the north Norfolk coast mid-morning.
  • Our first stop, the pretty village of Burnham Market with its quaint shops.
  • Then on to Holkham to walk through the pine forest and on to the sand dunes and the vast expanse of beach before taking lunch in Wells-next-the-Sea.
  • After lunch, we visit other coastal villages before heading to Morston.
  • From Morston Quay we take a boat trip along the river estuary and out to Blakeney Point where there is a large colony of seals. Some seals rest undisturbed on the sand, other inquisitive seals swim up to the boat. Are we the exhibit or are they?
  • Arrive back in Cambridge at 1900.
