Hidden Gems of England tours from Cambridge

Student / Child:

Next Hidden Gem: The North Norfolk Coast including Seal-watching
England is full of remarkable places to visit - some world famous, others little known and off-the-beaten-track. In addition to our usual programme of tour destinations, every month we arrange visits to other places of great interest. Our Next Hidden gem is to...
North Norfolk has a quiet unpopulated coastline of wide sandy beaches and sand dunes, river estuaries teeming with birdlife, and home to the UK's largest colonies of Grey and Common Seals. It is fabulous walking country so bring sturdy footwear and a warm waterproof jacket.
Windmills on the North Norfolk Coast

Plan for the day

  • Depart from Cambridge at 0900 (please read 'Tour details' below) to arrive at the north Norfolk coast at 1030.
  • First stop, the pretty village of Burnham Market with its quaint shops.
  • Then to Holkham to walk through the pine forest on to the sand dunes and the vast expanse of beach before taking lunch in a village pub (not included in the tour price).
  • After lunch, we visit other coastal villages before heading to Morston.
  • From Morston Quay we take a boat trip along the river estuary and out to Blakeney Point where there is a large colony of seals. Some seals rest undisturbed on the sand, other inquisitive seals swim up to the boat. Are we the exhibit or are they?
  • We depart from the coast at about 1730 to arrive back in Cambridge at 1900.
