	Introduction to Carbon Offsetting
ECO2Travelling is a scheme designed to compensate for the impact individuals and companies have on the environment by their burning of fossil fuels. It aims to raise awareness of the carbon footprint of each activity that generates greenhouse gas emissions.
IPCC guidelines are used to measure the amount of CO2 released by our vehicles' consumption of diesel fuels to give a calculable environmental impact of Roots Travel. By working with Itzama, we offset this impact by purchasing certificates of emission reduction generated by projects for renewable energy sources. Each certificate offsets a proportion of this impact.
Green electricity generated by such projects replaces electricity otherwise generated by coal-fired power plants thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
